Hech (pronounced HAYCH) is an MC from Cambridge, Massachusetts with a passion for jazzy, soulful samples, competent flowetry, and in general, good music.
On her list of present feats, she has opened for Ab-Soul, People Under the Stairs, Kool Keith, and a host of underground Boston classic artists. She has been to Europe and back twice, opening for Pete Rock & CL Smooth, as well as Smif-n-Wesson.
Hech has released 5 projects, including her introductory tape “DUCK, DUCK, DILLA, DOOM” a tribute to two of her favorite producers, MF Doom and J Dilla; “Heavy Staring” an album with producer 75Crates of Canada; "The Middleweight" and "Lionheart" both produced by Massachusetts MC Relentless the Tangible, which pays homage to a grimier, more pugnacious side of Ms. Rhymes; "Childhood Chex Mix" an EP featuring beats from Chelsea, Massachusetts native EvillDewer which boasts vintage gaming knowledge; and two singles: "Material Lights" and "Nikita." In a world full of decade-long underground hip-hop careers that may or may not produce much fruit, it has been a satisfying venture for her thus far. Put in her own words: “It's true/ I land my hook nicer than you/ I write ill refrains/ and my voice got Badu.”
Hech started rapping in late 2013, and has been running with the pen ever since. While most of her influences come from the past (we’re talking 90’s boom-bap and R&B, take your pick of who) she thoroughly enjoys some of the new sounds coming out of upstate NY at this time, along with the locals in her own region.
